The Reward of Senior Citizens Living Independently

Making it possible for my dad to live independently in his own home was rewarding for me and extremely important to him. Think about your own senior life. Would you prefer to live in the comfort of your own home, or be placed in an assisted living facility? As you get older, change becomes more and more frightening. Remember, as Dorothy said, there’s no place like home.

When the decision is made that your loved one should remain in the home, the first thing you must do is look around the house and take steps to make it elder-friendly. You might say “that’s too expensive.”  Take into consideration the cost of assisted living which can run up to $5,000.00 a month. If adding things to the house enables your loved one to live there for as long as possible, a lot of money can be saved. But, most importantly, you will have the gratitude of the some of most important people in your life.
